The Costa Rican football federation today announced that Ricardo La Volpe has signed his contract to become the new manager of the national side. Negotiations had been going on for weeks but it now appears that all La Volpe’s demands have been met and he will begin work on the 1st November.
It looks like his first game in charge will be in January in the Copa Centroamericana in Panamá. Although as La Volpe stated at his inauguration his main job is to take Costa Rica to the World Cup.
As I wrote earlier La Volpe is a controversial choice but brings a lot of experience and a forthrightness that will be valuable to Costa Rica. Whatever happens, one thing for certain is that it won’t be dull.
Bienvenidos y buena suerte El Bigotón.
